Quirky Christmas colours for FMU#34

Hi all, this week for our Friday Mashup Challenge Lesley is bringing you some quirky Christmas colours!  I love blue and chocolate together but really Lesley, for Christmas?  Oh well, might as well get to it!

I had a lot of fun making this card, and while the colours might not be traditional Christmas colours, they work so well together that what does it matter!  LOL.  So thank you Lesley for taking us away from tradition to use this fabulous colour combo.

I went with Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White I used the top note die with my bigshot and cut out and layered the shapes making my Christmas star.

Check out the amazing creations from the Friday Mashup Design Team!

Have fun creating!

Giving Thanks

At Paper Lovin' Gals this week, we are giving thanks, while this is not a celebrated holiday in Australia, I think the concept is something we should all do each and every day.

By taking time out to think about what we are grateful for, perhaps it puts our petty issues correctly in their place so we don't let them get out of hand.

So for me I am giving thanks that I have a place to live, apart from a few petty aches and pains I'm relatively healthy!, I have family and friends around me and I have this unstoppable urge to be creative.

The inspiration photo really had me wondering what to do, then as usual inspiration struck and I went with the lines in the bottom half of the picture to create this,  It was the quickest and simplest card I've made in ages.

I used all the same colours and just swiped the inkpad from the centre of the card front to the outside edges.  Love the effect.  I've used the following colours to create this  Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango

Thanks for stopping by to gather your own inspiration, head on over to the Paper Lovin' Gals challenge site and see what other inspiration you can find.

Once Upon a Sketch...

I was just scrolling through my google reader to check out all the all the latest posts from the blogs I follow, when this post caught my eye.  I've been following Natalie at her Happy Daks site for a while now and LOVE her work, it's so amazing.

The oppotunity to win this stunning kit is coming to us from Once Upon A Sketch.  It's a scrapbook challenge blog with a focus on journalling.  Just the sort of help I need for my pages!  I've become a follower and I hope to find more time to actually scrap, this blog is a sure fire way to find some inspiration!

Thank you to the lovely ladies from all over the world who make up this amazing design team.

Great Sketch!

What a fabulous Friday Mashup sketch Holly has for us this week, mashing it up with a Rosette.  While I'm still in denial that Christmas is so close, I had to do the mashup and go Christmas!

I chose to stay monochrome though and used some flocked designer paper to create this lovely card.

Head on over to the Friday Mashup challenge blog to see the stunning inspiration projects awaiting you there.

New Inspiration @ Paper Lovin' Gals

Hello again, it's time for a new inspiration photo from us here at the Paper Lovin' Gals challenge blog.

What great colours here in this Harvest Wreath, so naturally I went with them.  While autumn tones are not usually the first ones I reach for, I do like them occasionally!  I chose to do the shaving cream technique to create my own background paper for this project as I just love the way the colours swirl and blend, I went lightly so there is lots of vanilla showing through the stronger colours to sofen the whole look.

I had to find layout inspiration as that was a bit low, so I turned to my little book of Mojo Monday sketches and selected this one from 2009 to make the card.

I know there is more inspiration just wating for you over at the Paper Lovin' Gals challenge blog, so hop on over there and be inspired!  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Another Unscripted sketch

Hello, thanks for stopping by to gather some inspiration, please leave a comment, I love hearing from you.

This week the Unscripted Sketches team have an interesting sketch and it's heading me down the CAS road, which I seem to be doing a fair amount of those cards lately.

Here's the sketch and this is what I came up with...

Inlaid embossing down the side panel, I added a layer of colour behind the top layer as it just seemed to need it.  I've used a long retired stamp set one of the flowers from Still Life Stems, very pretty, I decided not to colour it at all and stamped it in Marina Mist, then added some Marina Mist and Wisteria Wonder hearts on the side, embossed and put a sentiment.  Done.  Too easy!

Thanks for visiting
