Fan Favourite at the Friday Mashup

Hi all, welcome to antoher fabulous Friday Mashup Fan Favourite week...LOL  whew, try saying that fast!

For those new to the FMU challenge, each month with 5 weeks, we run a Fan Favourite competition, our fans enter their ideas, the DT vote on their top 4 or 5 ideas then we put a poll up on the sidebar for a few weeks and the fans vote on their favourite.  That person is then our featured Fan and their idea is the challenge!

Congratulations to Lisa Runyon who suggested this mashup of Fall and Brads, Lisa won the vote and her challenge is being featured this week.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a "Fall themed" Project.
  2. Or Make a Project that uses "Brads".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Fall themed project using Brads".

So here is my effort, I forgot about the brads part of the challenge!  and by the time I remembered I'd already glued down my layers and the glue was dry.  Does anyone else have problems with double sided tape?  doesn't matter what brand I use, I live in a high humidity area and the tapes do not have staying power at all so I stick with glue....LOL Pun intended!

I've used the leaf from Lovely as a Tree and clear embossed on Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler to create my pile of leaves.  I also created the textured sidepanel with the same colours and little squares glued down then ran the Always Artichoke piece through the Big Shot to put the texture in there, I also used some of the stunning Cherry Cobbler seam binding to create this ruffle down the strip, the end had frayed a bit and I left it as I quite liked the look.

Now head on over to the Friday Mashup site, unless you've just come from there, check out what the talented Design Team ladies have created for your inspiration Oh and the Fan Favourites card as well.

Cheers,

Friday Mashup and it's my week again!

Hi all, welcome to Friday and it's my turn to host your Friday Mashup challenge this week.  I've gone with a sketch and mashed it up with a masculine theme as we seem to do quite a few girly type challenges so I'm challenging you all to make a card for whoever the man in your life is..... a baby boy, a young child, a teenager, your partner, your dad, grand dad, uncle or maybe it's a friend.  When it comes to cards we tend to neglect the men in our lives!  So let's get crafting and show we care.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

  1. Make a card using the "Sketch above that is Square".
  2. Or Make a Project that has a "Masculine" theme.
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Square Project with the Sketch above that is Masculine".

I've gone for stars as in the sketch....I've used a wheel and added some coloured stars and coloured some in with a marker as well. I've also used some pewter on the card, adding some brads and a buckle.  A little bit of distressing around the edges and it's done.   My colours used here are Island Indigo, Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake.

Can't wait to see what you all come up with for the man in your life.  Hop on over to the Friday Mashup Challenge Blog and check out what the Design Team have done to inspire you.

Cheers,

Another deadline missed...sigh!

Here I was thinking I'd be able to knock over all these challenges in two cards and I've missed a deadline, I got this sketch from 4 Crafty Chicks and got sidetracked last night so it remained partially finished on my desk until this evening when I got home from work and of course, in my usual style, I've missed the deadline!  Never mind, I should still make the other challenges.  I've also found another new challenge sitem at least, new for me.  Gosh, that's two in one week  YAY.

This card uses another favourite colour combo of pinks and browns.  I'm really happy wiht the way this one came together, I thought the sketch was really different.

Challenges are...

Celebrate!

Hello, happy Friday.  It's great that this week is over!  I got a nasty gastro bug and spent 2 days sick off work, back at work today and it was a very long 9 hour day playing catchup...*sigh*  I have knocked over a couple of cards which I'm posting tonight.

This is my entry into a new challenge blog I discovered recently. Plus it fits into a couple of old favourites as well.  I absolutely LOVE these colours!  Enjoy!

Friday Mashup # 24

While it is Spring here in Australia, my fellow DT members are on the other side of the ocean and are in Autumn.  So this week's Friday Mashup challenge is celebrating Autumn.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Create a project with an "Autumn" theme.
  2. Or Create a project using shades of "Yellow & Orange".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Autumn project using shades of Yellow & Orange".
I used Naturals Ivory and Tangerine Tango cardstock and used the rock and roll technique on the leaves More Mustard and Tangerine Tango then cut them out and placed them randomly on the stamped background.  I've used the golden glow spritzer to give a lovely sparkle to the background only.

Hop on over to the Friday Mashup Challenge blog and check out what the fabulously talented Design Team has come up with to inspire you this week.

Happy Happy Birthday!

Thank you Sami and the DT over at Scrapmasters Paradise for selecting my card as your winning entry for this challenge!

**************

Don't you just love it when you phone an area at work seeking assistance and you just hit it off with the staff?  That's what happend when I called our workforce team in Brisbane.  The fabulous Leanne and her staff are so friendly and helpful, so when I learnt that it was Leanne's birthday, I just had to make her a card.

It was just such a happy coincidence that she loves Pink! and this would have to be one of my favourite pink combos.  Crumb Cake and Regal Rose I've also added in a tiny bit of pretty in pink and pink pirouette.  I've used Greenhouse Garden to stamp the outline image and I've double stamped it in Champagne Shimmer paint to give that lovely shine.  Hint.  rather than put shimmer ink on your inkpad, draw with a marker on a china plate then sponge the shimmer paint and dab it in the ink.  Less messy!

Here's the inside of the card too, lightly spritzed with shimmer to make it glow.

Scrapmasters Paradise ~ Crumb Cake, Regal Rose and Whisper White
(ok so I used Pink Pirouette as my lightest pink...no worries, not entering to win a prize.)

Friday Mashup # 23 in stitches at scool?

Well not literally in stitches at school...LOL

Hi there everyone, welcome to a new Friday Mashup Challenge, this week the challenge is brought to you by Heidi, I'm assuming it's back to school in the US, schools here are about to take their two weeks September school holidays, our school year commences in late January or early February and the long school break is in Dec/Jan each year.

On to this weeks challenge...

So, here's the "Mashup!" challenge:
1. Create a project with "Stitching or Faux Stitching".
2. Or Create a project for "Back To School or a Teacher Gift".
3. Or "Mash it Up!" and create a "Back To School Project with Stitching"!

I've not mashed it up this week and only used the stitching component, faux stitching done with Stamp n Write markers.  My card is a Diagonal Double Pocket card (link is to the split coast stampers resources page) this card is made from one sheet of 12 x 12 designer series paper. Then there are a couple of tags, I've used a retired stamp set and a sheet of Tea Party paper also retired.  I've added faux stitching.

Now before you rush off to make your entry for this weeks challenge, don't forget to visit the Friday Mashup challenge blog and check out what the Design Team has made for your inspiration.

While you're there, you can cast your vote for the Fan Favourite

PS...Thanks Cindy for pointing out I forgot to add my card!  LOL I'm awake!

Cheers,

Farewell and good luck

Unscripted Sketches DT chose this among their top entries for this challenge.  Thank you!

   ********************************

Hi fellow bloggers, welcome to another post.  Hope you like what you see.

One of my staff if leaving us for a 6 month adventure, so we're having a send off tomorrow afternoon and I put this card together for her, we will all write our own message for her so the inside has been done up as well.

This one follows a sketch from Unscripted Sketches challenge and the colours from Scarpmasters Paradise.  I've used the embossed resist technique and sponged the Cherry Cobbler, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie over the embossed paper.

Motocycle Fathers day card

My grandson needed a quick card for today.  So here's what we came up with.

We went for a rusty metal plate look on the background and are really happy with the effect.  Hope you all had a fabulous Father's day wtih your families.

Monochromatic blooms

Hello, I'm back with a second post for today.  I love monochromatic cards, there is just something calming about a colour scheme like that.  Hand Stamped Sentiments has a monochromatic challenge this week.  I've chosen Early Expresso, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  All following browns through to cream.  Really happy with the way this one turned out.

I really liked the vertical bow, but then I tied it so it sat horizontal and took another pic of the card.  I'd like to hear your opinion on which way you like it tied.  I think I prefer it vertical.

I've sponged undiluted Champagne Mist shimmer paint over the Soft Suede ink after inking the stamp, while dabbing the paint over the ink the two mix slightly and you end up with the most amazing metallic ink look.  The flowers on the card fold are stamped using only the shimmer paint so they are soft and shimmery.  The same image is stamped on the Crumb Cake card with Crumb Cake ink.  Here's a shot of the inside.

And finally here's a shot of it partially open, I'm really happy with this funky shape to my card.

Pacific flower party

One of the things I've been remiss in is welcoming my new followers as they joined my site.  So for the first 50 I say a huge welcome and thank you for selecting my blog to follow, I love reading your comments and also visiting your blogs when I can.

Welcome also to Sandra, a fellow Aussie from way south of here in Adelaide as follower # 51!

On to the post for today.  Scrapmasters Paradise had this interesting colour combo and I thought I'd give it a go.  I'm really loving Pool Party as a colour...a very pretty mint green.  Not so fond of Lucky Limeade though so I've only used the tinyest bit in this creation.  Yes I know it's a cop out!

Greenhouse garden flowers stamped in Pacific Point and Pool Party and the leaves from French Foliage are stamped in Lucky Limeade.  The background is Pool Party stamped on Pool Party I just love that flower outline and I think it looks fabulous here as a background!    I used the rock n roll technique on the larger flowers and then spritzed them with water prior to stamping the image, just to soften the lines more.

All the flowers have been spritzed with Champagne Shimmer paint although it really is hard to get glitter to show up well in photos.

Cheers for now, I'm heading back into the craft room to see what else I can come up with today!

02 September 2011

This week at the Friday Mashup Kim brings us a great challenge in the form of a Gatefold card with the Mashup option of using numbers. So here's all you need to do...

  1. Create a card that uses a "Gatefold" .
  2. Create a card that uses "Numbers". (stamped, die cut, chip board etc)
  3. or "Mash it Up!" and create a "Gatefold Card using Numbers"!
I chose to only do the Gatefold card and started playing around wtih a few stamp sets and some embossing powder and sponges and ink and well, here's the result.

The colours I've used here are So Saffron, Concord Crush, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.  I really like the soft yellow mixed with the purples.  Here's the inside of the gate card.  The front panels continue on and then there is a centre panel for that special hand written message.

The ribbon wraps all the way around the card and ties in a bow at the front to keep the card closed.  Hope you are inspired by my card and the ones created by the rest of the Design Team over at the Friday Mashup.
