Kites and String!

Welcome Blends to the Fan Favourite week at the Friday Mashup.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using  "Colorful Twine".
  2. Or Make a project featuring "Kites".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with " Kites and Colorful Twine".

This little cutie was from Whimsy Stamps, he's a digi called Frog Friend by Chrissy Armstrong and I'm sure you can see the similarities to the little Girl from yesterday's post.  Such lovely images and so easy to colour.  My granddaughter has named him William and his froggy.

I couldn't find my twine, searched high and low, even in places where it couldn't possibly be (you know what I mean   LOL) and so I used cotton string to form the tail of little William's kite.

I hope this inspires you to play along with our challenge this week, you can see more inspiration over at the Friday Mashup challenge blog.

Linking William up to the Make it Monday linky party as well.  I have so much fun blog hopping and leaving comments playing along with MIM.

Easter is almost here!

This week two of the challenges that I design for Paper Lovin' Gals and 4 Crafty Chicks are having an Easter theme.  So slacker that I am, I've done ONE card for both challenges!

Paper Lovin' Gals have this fabulous picture as inspiration.

I recently won a prize in a challenge and the very lovely Chana swapped it out for me so I could get some digi stamps, thereby saving me the incredible postage rate from the States, which was more than the prize was!  This little sweetie is one of the stamps I chose.  She is from Whimsy Stamps.  I masked up a Stampin' Up! basket of flowers and then drew in the handle and eggs. (badly!)  Still it meant that I could turn it to an Easter card so it works for me.

My suggestion to you all is to do the double up like I did and enter both challenges

Don't forget to link up to the Make it Monday linky party too!

Can't wait to see what you create!

Cheers,

Celebrating!

Hello 'Blends' (see here for definition), I'm celebrating being selected to join the Southern Girls Challenge Design Team and am posting this card into their current challenge.  Which is Yellow, Red and Blue.  OK so a bit of poetic license has been taken here as I've got lots of other colours in here.

Again, my photography skills are sad, although the second photo is clearer. There is spica pen everywhere on this image, only it doesn't show up well in the photos.

I've sponged ink around the edge of the card to create this background and layered black mounted strips of Kaisercraft Gypsy Sisters papers behind the Saturated Canary image.

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges.

Southern Girls Challenge ~ Red, Blue & Yellow
Crafty Purple Frog ~ Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday ~ Anything Goes
Sweet Stampin' Challenge ~ Anything Goes

It's Official!

I can finally announce my great news!  I've been selected to be on the fabulous design team for Southern Girls Challenge  I'm so excited, I got the email and did a little happy dance.

It's awesome to be designing for a 'closer to home' challenge site although in meeting some of the DT, we come from all over the world.  As a Southern Girl, I'm in Team Trace and we are a fortnightly challenge so that means one project a month!  Heaps of time to create an awesome project.

Hope to see you all playing along with us.

Quilted card???

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using the "Quilted Cards Technique".
  2. Or Make a project using "something that's been forgotten (sitting in your stash forever)".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Quilted card with something you've forgotten about".

Now I love card making but quilting just seems a little bit way to fiddly for me.  I was right, I'm so very glad I do papercraft instead of patchwork!
My forgotten about item is the rubon.  I rarely use them and then I remember I have them and use one and it looks great, then I forget about them again!  LOL

Check out the other quilted creations at the Friday Mashup Challenge Blog.

There is more inspiration for you over at the Paper Lovin' Gals blog.  Hope to see you playing along with us.

Sparkle

I recently took advantage of a fabulous sale over at Sweet Pea stamps and picked up some stunning stamps.  I've been colouring up some of the images and here is the first of them.

Ching-Chou Kuik's Radiant Butterfly, I've followed the colours fairly closely to what is pictured on the image for this one.  Love the way it turned out.  Sorry this pic was taken at stupid o'clock this morning under artificial light and her skin is really not that yellow!  It's raining here, still, I'll try another pic once daylight arrives!

Update:  Much better pic taken in a dull gray rainy daylight but it's better than the last photo!

This Photo below is still very yellow, but I wanted to try to show the spica sparkle on this image, she's pretty much covered in it!  I've added the copic colours used as well.

I've just finished a copic class with Mandi-Lee at Copic Me and I've learnt quite a lot that I had either forgot from my first lesson or wasn't covered.  Either way, it was the best investment of my time and a few dollars.

I am entering this card into the following challenges.

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything Goes ( my first time on this challenge site)
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Celebrate (Happy 4th Birthday CCT!)

Copics used.
Skin:  E50; 51; 53 & 93
Eyes: BV04 and BV000 Clear spica pen
Hair: BV00; 02; 04; B21; Gold; Clear and Sky Blue spica pens
Dress and Background:  Y000; RV000; 00 & 01; V000; 01 & 04; B21 & 23; Pink, Sky Blue and Turquoise and Clear spica pens

PLG #23 and easy one

In honour of St Patrick's day, Michele has bought us this super easy challenge this week at the Paper Lovin' Gals.  At least it was for me this time round.  I just went with Green and White to make this fairly simple card, not a lot of layers.....are you shocked?

Just a few stamped and embossed flowers punched out and placed on this fabulous swirly die from Cheery Lynne.  I did cut two and added part of the second one to make the swirl bigger.

Join in the fun and link your creations up at the Paper Lovin' Gals challenge blog.

4CCC is all soft and feminine

This week at the 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge, the challenge is to go girly, so whether you choose to go soft and feminine with lace and pearls or go for bright and cheery pinks and purples, it's time to get girly.

I have coloured up Whispy a Saturated Canary digi image using my Copic markers.  She is so cute and I was just so happy with the way she turned out.  I hope you like her, I know I do!

I'm adding this card to Make it Monday challenge where anything goes.
A new challenge site for me, Crafty Purple Frog Challenge, they are all pink and girly this week for their challenge.  (I hope peachy pink works!)

Totally Stampalicious are asking for bouquets of flowers.

Thanks for stopping by, please come back again!

A-Tisket, A-Tasket here we go with a new Friday Mashup

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using the "Colors Green & Yellow".
  2. Or Make a "3-D project that's a Basket or a Treat Pouch".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Treat Basket/Pouch using the colors Green & Yellow".

Heidi brings us this weeks Friday Mashup challenge to make a 3d item that's a basket or treat pouch or to go Green and Yellow.  These are definitely colours I'm familiar with as the Aussie sporting teams are Green and Gold! I didn't do a 3d project but I did find a basket stamp as a token effort to include it in my project!

Once again, I've headed to my copic markers and a Saturated Canary digi to make my card, I love this one, she's such a unique character with her tutu style skirt and army boots!   My photography skills seem to have failed in the second photo.  but you can see greater clarity in the photo on top.

The Design Team over at the Friday Mashup have all made some amazing projects to inspire you for this week's challenge.  Head on over there if you haven't been there yet and check them all out.

I'm also entering this funky chick into Make it Monday linky party

Copic Oz has a 'B' challenge.  Ok stretching it a bit, but here's how I fit this card in  'Babe in Boots', 'Basket' (it starts with B) plus this card is Bright.

PLG strange one this week.

I have to admit, this picture inspiration at Paper Lovin' Gals this week gave me all sorts of grief!  It took ages to be able to come up with something.  My Mum saved the day by asking me for a birthday card for a lady at her church.  I ended up selecting a doily shape to go with the mesh like images above.

I stayed with similar colours using Poppy Parade as my base, Sahara Sand just echoed Ecru, which is the colour of a lot of crocheted doilies in my Mum's collection and then just to lift it all I added the blue satin ribbon from my stash.  I coloured the flowers using Copic markers and the white is so stark in the photo but it's actually very close to the Sahara Sand IRL

I rarely decorate the inside of my cards, I suppose I'm moving on to the next project, but my Mum always opens them up when I show her, even though she knows there is nothing inside I like to wait until I know what I want to use the card for and add a message especially for the person and occasion.

You really need to give this one a go!  Talk about making you think, thanks Michele.  Head on over to the Paper Lovin' Gals blog and get creative.

4 Crafty Chicks sketch it up.

This week at the 4 Crafty Chicks, we have a sketch for you.  I though I'd try for a masculine card using hearts and I really like the way this one turned out.  the background paper is two toned stripes and I ran it through the crimper and it now looks multi coloured!

Cheery Lynne heart dies but I snipped the scallop edges off and layered then on gold metallic card.

Hope you're inspired!  Head over to the 4 Crafty Chicks blog and see what the girls have created.

Monochromatic at Mad for Markers!

Voting is now on at Mad For Markers challenge.  If you like my little baby card, please head off to vote !

*****************************************

Sammi at Mad for Markers has challenged us this month to colour a monochromatic image.  I had a lot of fun with this image.  I love purples and pinks so I went for the V colour family and used V000, V01 and V02 to colour this cute digi.

I even used some vellum that I thought I'd never get around to using!  it has baby dummies, bottles and nappy pins on it.  Too cute but I'm not one for doing cutesy cards.

Take the challenge and see what you can come up with by going monochromatic!

A Saturated Saturday - sketch that is.

Hi all, I've combined the fabulous sketch by Tracey at Sketch Saturday with the challenge at the Saturated Canary to use Doilies and came up with this card.  Love these images and colouring them is a sheer delight.

This sketch by Tracey is gorgeous and it all came together really well.  I've used a Cheery Lynne doily die in white, I'm sure I have a crochet pattern like this somewhere!

The papers are from Papermanias pink Capsule collection and I've used X-Press It card for my image which is coloured using copic markers and spica pens.

ok  here goes with the copics used.

Skin:  E50 & E51
Dress:  RV00; R81, R83; R85 & R59 plus Clear and Pink spica pens
Stockings: RV00 plus Clear and Pink spica pens
Eyes:  G02 & C1
Hair:  E11; E21; E31; E33; E35; E37 plus Gold and Sand spica pens
Shoes: R81; R83; R85 & R59

I had so much fun colouring her in.  Oh I'm taking a beginners Copic class online with the fabulous Mandi-Lee from Copicme.  Mandi-Lee is the ONLY person in Australia who can certify Copic teachers!  Although the course I'm taking is not a certification course.  It's the basics to make sure I really know what I'm doing and get the best out of my investment in the markers.

Mandi-Lee has an amazing talent and knowledge about these markers, just check out the links to her site....Oh My!   I hope to learn so much from her.  I think there is still time to join if you're interested.  If you join, let her know it was from my post please, we could receive a little gift for people who join in on our recommendation.  AND I do recommend it!

Cheers,
