Dress Ups Scrapbook page

I found this page in my pre packing clean up in the craft room, it was in one of those plastic page double pockets where you put your page papers and elements to take to a class it had just been put in with all my papers and totally forgotten about.  I did it for my demonstration about woven paper technique at the SU Cairns Regionals.....ages ago.

Those of you who have been visiting me for a while will have seen my woven paper backgrounds for cards, this shows how easily they can be used for scrapping too.

This of course is my beautiful grand daughter Danielle, she was about 2 in this picture and had discovered my sarongs and scarves and a sparkly hat so we played dress ups.  She has fairy wings and dancing dresses in her dress ups box but these held more appeal on the day.

Pastel Flowers and a Butterfly!

Inspried by pretty pastels and on a roll with using reinkers and rubbing alcohol, see my last 3 or 4 posts I've probably made this card a LOT busier than I normally do but well there was all these layers in the sketch and then flowers and well I HAD to add bling......LOL

The colours I've used here are Lovely Lilac (retired), Sage Shadow (retired), Marina Mist and a touch of whisper white in the sentiment and ribbon.  Then I went to my stash of flowers and just added some to pick up on the colours used.

To finish it off I added some flowers stamped in silver, but I think that was a mistake! oh well, see Andrea......I do make them, I just don't usually post them.

I'm going out with a bang with 5 challenges in this one post as this will be my last post for a little while, I'm moving house so I won't have time to craft, plus I need to have the internet transfered and all that jazz.  Mind you though, if the packing is driving me crazy and I haven't gotten to the craft room then I might just have to make another card.....somehow I doubt it though....*sigh*

This creation qualifies for the following challenges.

Friday Sketchers ~ Sketch # 147

Paper Pals Arts ~ # 86 Elements of Style - Embossing

Colour Create ~ Pastel Colours

Southern Girls ~ Add an Animal  ---- YES BUTTERFLIES COUNT!

Butterfly Birthday

Oh what a lovely surprise to see a bright purple and blue colour challenge!  Way to go Play Date Cafe!!!  AND....how about this sketch from Card Patterns Sketches so simple and elegant.

In case you hadn't noticed, purple is one of my favourite colours, this card just flowed together so easily as I was working with colours I just LOVE.  Once again I've hit the alcohol bottle....rubbing alcohol that is and mixed it up with re inkers, not to drink of course, but to play with on glossy cardstock.

I'm loving the effect as this technique gives you something different with each dab of cotton wool.  I made a deep colour section and a lighter coloured section and used both on this card.  Hope you like it.

Style Beautiful

I really needed chill out time in the craft room after work today so I looked at the challenges on offer and came up with this offering.....Hope you like it as much as I do.

Once again, I'm having fun turning out the mottled paper by using re inkers with rubbing alcohol on glossy card stock and this one I am really happy with, the colours used here are More Mustard, Rich Razzleberry and Perfect Plum and I think they make a stunning combo.

It is my take on the colour combo on offer at Play Date Cafe, while on screen the darker colour looks more of a cherry colour it printed out more plum so I ended up using Rich Razzleberry in my take.  I've also used the scroll stamp in the Style Beautiful set for the first time and decided to stamp it double and added some tiny pearls to the image.

Don't know what's wrong with my camera lately, the Perfect Plum has turned out quite lilac looking in this photo.  Trust me it IS Perfect Plum!

Delight in Life

This week's colour challenge over at Colour Throwdown was one that at first I turned my nose up at.....ewww.  But then I thought ok, the whole point of challenges is to challenge me, in particular take me out of my comfort zone by daring me to use a colour combo that I wouldn't normally use, or find a way to interpret a sketch.

So going right out of my comfort zone here is my interpretation of this combo using a sketch from 4 Crafty Chicks.

I've used the inlaid embossing technique again and added a bit of rock n roll as well

Mother

Between loads of washing I've snuck back into the craft room this morning and whipped up another challenge entry.  Stamping 411 had an Inlaid Texture technique challenge which I wanted to try, unfortunately I've missed out on being able to enter this card there.  But it fits two other challenges that I found, so here goes.

This is Regal Rose, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede hearts, all spritzed with Champagne Mist shimmer paint then glued in place on Very Vanilla and run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder, what a lovely technique!  THANK YOU to the ladies at Stamping 411.

I've also matted this card with Crumb Cake and Melon Mambo to add a bit more Pink, it IS after all for a Lady!

Becca's Seashells

Today is my beautiful Becca's birthday, we are all getting together this afternoon for afternoon tea to celebrate.  Becca lives by the beach and her whole home has a ocean theme so I just had to use sea shells and a sea horse to help her celebrate.

Gold embossing on Sahara Sand for the shells, Twilight Blue Slate embossing powder on Marina Mist for the sea horse, a trim of Cherry Cobbler to lift it all a little.  While I was in Cairns a few months ago, I'd picked up some shells paper as well as this amazing glitter paper which is so rich and luxurious they were both tucked away in my scrapbooking supplies and I thought of them as they were perfect for this card.

I don't usually do the inside of cards I make, unless they are destined for someone special and my beautiful daughter fits that bill so.....I made that little bit of extra effort and came up with this...

I'd love to hear what you think, so please take the time to leave a comment.  Have a fantastic weekend all, I might get some more time in the craft room today....but I'm not holding my breath till it happens!

Picture Perfect

This is my take on the Picture Perfect Creations colour combo this week.  Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant and Tangerine Tango.   I must say I was a bit daunted to add the Tangerine Tango but I think it all came out.... well.....Picture Perfect!

PS.  ssshhhhh I'm also entering their call for DT members....keep your fingers crossed for me.

Another 4 challenges met

This entry has won a TOP 3 Pick at Unscripted Sketches, Thank you ladies.

Well I've felt like the two cards I've made today have taken an age to come together, not that I struggled with them, it just seems that it's taken me such a long time to put them together!  Maybe I'm just slowing down, you know, old age creeping up and tapping me on the shoulder.....LOL

Lots of my favourite things in this card with Flowers, Butterflies and Bling!
Believe it or not, the card base is So Saffron, I guess it just washed out a bit in the photo.  The other colours are Rich Razzleberry and Blushing Bride these three make up the challenge colours over at Colour Lab this week.

So team that colour combo up with a sketch from Unscripted Sketches then add a Lemon Zingy theme from Paper Take Weekly and a Flowers theme from Southern Girls and it's done.

I'm really happy with this one after all, it took a while to get the threaded ribbon to work the way I wanted it to, but I got there in the end, I was going to use only flowers and bling but you know me, the butterflies were calling my name.

This Card is entered into the following challenges...

Southern Girls ~ Theme Use Flowers

Colour Lab ~ So Saffron, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride

Paper Take Weekly ~ Lemon Zingy

Green, Green and more green!

It seems that there are a lot of challenges around for using green.  I suppose that makes sense as St Patricks day is just around the corner.  I've departed from the St Paddy's day theme though and done an early Mothers Day card!

I've used the retired Sage Shadow here as the base with mats of Handsome Hunter also retired, then using glossy card stock and some reinkers, I've created my own Designer paper with Sage Shadow, Handsome Hunter, Taken with Teal and a drop of Baja Breeze, the photo shows this a lot 'bluer' than it is.

I rumaged around in my stash of flowers and found some greens and greenish blues to add to the card and have used the filagree brads from Stampin' Up!  I also sprayed the Silver Foil Smooch spritzer onto a white flower,  it turned out quite a dark antique silver in colour, which looks quite nice against all the greens and brighter slivers of the embossing and bling.

This little Cherry Tilda is so cute, I think this is the thrid card I've made using her.  I don't often join in the Magnolia challenges as they scare me!  I don't turn out the masterpieces that I see entered on the site so I'm being very brave here!

This card is entered into the following challenges...

Just Magnolia ~ Sketch

The Shabby Tea Room ~  Use Green

Easy Craft Projects ~ Use Green

I'd love to know what you think, and if you have any tips for colouring with Copics, please feel free to share them with me (I can use all the help I can get).

I'm Back!

I've had a wonderful 5 days visiting Canberra, I had to go down for a three day training course and extended the trip slightly to allow me to catch up with some friends. I LOVE Canberra, the change in seasons, rugging up in winter woolies, the activities that are on and of course the wonderful friends I've made there. Still, North Queensland does have its attractions too. Maybe I can work a split....winter in NQ and summer in ACT....hmmm now that IS a thought! LOL yes I do dream a lot.

Anyway while I was in town the very first person I caught up with was Monique, I signed Mon up as a SU Demo about a month before I left town! At least she knew I was going to be 3000 klms away when she signed on. Mon's Mojo has been missing a bit lately but go check out what this talented girl has done building storage for her craft space! Amazing stuff.

Saturday morning was a visit to Bron, we were lucky enough to be provided with a special limited edition Brayering class which was just sensational and THANKS Bron, I think I need to practice a bit more before I publish any efforts in that area. Bron was working with glossy card stock, that inspired me to drag some out for this card.

Saturday arvo was spent visiting one of my special customers, Penny to give her a big shot lesson, so waiting for her to now have time to create and post to her blog.

I got out the re inkers and rubbing alcohol and made the background paper using the Colour Throwdown colours Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette. Then I stamped the flower cluster from Elements of Style in stazon black ink and cut it out with the scallop square bigz die.

The sentiment comes from Occasional Quotes Hostess set, add a ribbon and a few pearls and you're done.
