Friday Mashup goes all girly

Ohhh I have to say a huge thank you to Holly for going all girly on us this week!  Love this challenge.

Isn't this picture just adoreable?  I've gone for bling rather than pearls on my inspiration set but I hope I'm forgiven

I think I've covered off the girly bit really well using three different pinks!  Then mashing it up there is ribbon AND Butterflies AND Bling!
This is a case of a card I created for Mother's Day and the ribbon is holding the card closed, it only opens up under the scallop circle.  Stamp-a-ma-jig is a must for lining up the scroll which has been masked to produce this layered effect.

Then I made a matching little box and gift cards which I'm so happy with.

I hope this provides some inspiration for you.  Don't foget to leave some love on the DT girls blogs, they take time out of their schedules to comment on the entries...it's only fair they get some love back!

Butterfly Tilda

The lovlies over at Mad for Markers chose this card as the winner of their colured embellishments challenge.  I've won some rhinestones.....I'm stoked!
*************************************************

Another attempt at colouring, this time I've also coloured some embellishments in keeping with the challenge over at Make it Monday.

I really like the spica pen, it provides such an elegant twinkle in the highlights which I've put in her hair.  This photo shows that up fairly well.

Next colouring course is to learn how to colour hair and skin, I'm still not all that happy with how the skin turns out for me so I'm really looking forward to that class.

The colours used here are as follows
Hair:  E31, E35, YR20
Skin:  E50, E51, E53
Clothes:  R81, R83, R85, butterfly BV17 and spica pen lace trim E40
Shoes: C3, C5, E04, R83, R85
Dark Ribbon: R85,
3 Darkest flowers: R85
Diamonte buckle: R85

Quick and simple

Hello and welcome back, if it's your fist visit to my blog, I do hope you enjoy surfing around my site and find some inspiration for your own creating.

I recently discovered the Stamp-A-Holics challenge site and they have quick challenges, I don't normally do simple, there is usually a fair amount of detail in my creations so I thought I'd try stretching myself out to do a Quick and Simple card for the challenge.  All cards have to be made in 15 mins or less!

Red Hearts Fairy

I'm off to do a Copics colouring course for beginners tomorrow and thought I'd have a play with a new stamp I'd picked up when I was booking my spot....This Red Hearts Fairy is so elegant and beautiful.

I've decided to mix purples with the red as they contrast wonderfully.  The background behind the fairy was an accidental effect and I thought it looked quite good so repeated it to make the mottled background colours.

it's all about Monochromatic Man

Hi it's Kasey here, a big Hello from sunny North Queensland, Australia! and welcome to another Friday Mashup Challenge I'm so pleased to be a full time member of the Friday Mashup Design Team and another first for me, I get to set the Challenge this week.
I'm so excited to be bringing you one of my all time favourites.  Just in case you haven't come across the term before...A Monochromatic scheme uses shades of the same colour or ONE colour plus a neutral.
I for one don't make enough masculine cards, I prefer working with all the girly colours and bling, so in the theme of setting challenges... to Mash it up, make it Masculine.

1. Make a card with a Monochromatic colour scheme
2. Make a card with with a Masculine theme
3. MASH it all up and create a Monochromatic card that is for a Male!

I can't wait to see all of your fabulous entries.

Don't forget to stop by and leave a comment on the blogs where the cards inspire you for both the DT girls AND the other entries.  Everyone loves to read comments!

I often find my best inspiration from looking at challenge entries.

Here is my inspiration card for you...

Edwin all grey

Hello everyone, I've had another attempt at using copic markers to make a card, I'm actually booked in to do a class on Sunday so I'm hoping to learn, in the mean time it's  watching tutorials and playing around self teaching.

I have to say, I do get rather intimidated by the amazing creations I see on some European sites!  Some cards I feel are a tad overdone as in too much embellishment or too many patterened papers which take away from the focal point of the card.  Mind you, that is only my opinion for what it's worth, but it also sort of explains why I only use the markers now and then.  Maybe I just need a confidence boost!

I got this little fellow in a parcel earlier this week.  Edwin from the Magnolia butterfly series.

If you're familiar with copic cololuring please feel free to pass on your advice, I'm open to suggestions and comments which point me in the right direction.

White on White

How hard is it to do white on white?  No colour to add that pizzazz.....well here is my effort for the Less is More challenge.

I choose not to put text on the front letting the card be used for whatever occasion crops up where it suits and my message will go inside.  This card also celebrates Butterflies, for those of you who stop by regularly, you'll know I celebrate them all the time!  however SU Only has Celebrate Butterflies as their challenge.

Less is More ~ Week 14 - White on White

SU Only ~ # 18 In Celebration of Butterflies

Believe

Two challenges for this card.  I loved the colour combo at CR84FN Gray, Hot Pink and White and the sketch at Stamping 411 was also inspirational.

I've spritzed the basic gray with Champagne Shimmer Mist to create this lovely shimmer on the card.  Then I used the Moonglow Spritz on the flower to give this stunning metallic finish.  Markers on the stamp so that I could ink up the flowers with Melon Mambo and I also inked up the satin and organza ribbon and some white taffeta ribbon with Melon Mambo finished off with an antique brad.

Stamping 411 - Sketch #202

CR84FN -  # 27 colour combo Bright Pink, Gray and oopps just realised it was Cream not White!  *sigh* oh well.

Inspired Text

I have never played around with the emboss resist technique and was inspired to try it based on a post from a good stamping friend Bron, her work is so awe inspiring and from simply just showing someone a technique she can turn out an amazing card... check out this one Bron made using a bit of newspaper!

When I saw the very first challenge was Text at CAS-ual Fridays then I knew exactly what to make.  Thank you for the inspiration Bron!

Hope it's CAS enough!

CAS-ual Fridays ~ CFC #1  Text

Get 'em young, train 'em well...

My 2 1/2 year old cherub stays with me a couple of times a week and we do stamping!  She has taken to it so well.

Ink up the stamp, 'you have to tap, tap tap it Nana'...

She gets a little upset when an image doesn't come out clearly, so I showed her how to check if the stamp is all shiny with ink before she stamps and she remembers to do this each time, even it it's a week or two between stamping sessions.

Too cute is the look of concentration on her face when she stamps the image, the stamp doesn't get moved or wriggled, it's straight down, press firmly and then lift it straight back up again.  And....

Clean the ink off and dry it.   Then we pack all the stamps away in the little boxes.

Danielle is only stamping on sheets of copy paper for now, but I don't think it will be long before she graduates to cards!

Mashup # 5

A little bit of Mashup in my day
and a little bit of nature come my way
a little embossing on my card
come on join in....it's not that hard....

LOL ok poor attempt at humour with the Mambo # 5 connection thing happening, however....Welcome to another lovely Friday and to the Mashup # 5.  Lisa has challenged us all this week with a fantastic double challenge

1. Create a card inspired by nature
2. Create a card with embossing on it somewhere
3. MASH it all up and create a nature card that uses embossing somewhere on it!

I made 2, I was inspired to use watercolouring as I was still waiting on my order to arrive with my new heat gun in it, I was dissappointed that it didn't come before the Easter Break but when you live about 3000 klms away from the warehouse it does take time.

I broke out the Lovely as a Tree set and used Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and More Mustard as my colours. I've used Confetti White for my card base as it's closer to the water colour paper colour than Whisper White.

When my order arrived, it had my heat gun and French Foliage in it, so once I had unpacked it, the urge to put ink on that set was strong, I decided to emboss the leaves and see how they would turn out.

This set called out for a distressed kind of vintage style so I spritzed the card using my spritzer tool and markers - Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede were lightly spritzed on to the card as well as stamping the big leaf a few times lightly and of course the spots/splashes stamp in this set to mess it up.  All in all I'm very happy with the result.

I hope you will join us over at The Friday Mashup, I'd love to see what you come up with from Lisa's inspirational challenge.

Don't forget if you see a card that inspires you, leave a comment on the creators blog, we all love to read comments, yes, even the DT girls!

Wedding Card

In honour of Wills & Kate getting married, Easy Craft Projects challenge this week is to make a card inspired by the Royal Wedding.  I'd already made one wedding card  for the  Friday Mashup this week, in case you hadn't heard I made it to the design team over there!

Anyway back to the post, I'd also posted a Mother's Day card with a difference this morning so decided to make this wedding card along the same lines.

Because the front panel is very simple, I hope it also qualifies for Less is More and Crafty Creations challenges as well.

and here it is opened

So this card goes into the following challenges, although the inside may not quite qualify for Less is More or White Space!  the outside does...LOL

Easy Craft Projects ~ Challenge # 37 Card inspired by the Royal Wedding

Less is More ~ Week 13 Lucky Dip - Congratulations or Thank you Card.

Crafty Creations ~ Challenge 116 - White Space

Mother's Day Card

I'm so very pleased that this idea turned out the way it did.  It took a bit of guesswork and measuring but turned out just sensational.

This is my first time using the Strength and Hope set, it's fabulous and what is even better is that Stampin' Up! is donating $2 from the sale of each and every set to Breast Cancer research, so what better set to use for a Mother's Day card than this.  The words in the background also aptly describe Mother's.

Here is the card closed, I used a narrow vanilla ribbon for that.  The colours are Rose Red, Perfect Plum and Very Vanilla, a combo I came up with a week or so ago and I've been waiting for the right card to come along to use them.

And whent he card is open there is room for your message on the under side of the scalloped circle front.
