For Mother...

Where do I start with this card?  This has been a project and a half!  Grab a cuppa, you're in for a long read....LOL

I decided to use my Tim Holtz distress inks to make some background papers.
If you don't really want to know how this card was made, feel free to jump to the end, I'd love to read your comments, so please stop to say hi.

Paper number 1 was created by using SU Confetti White, Distress ink pads and plastic wrap, I used Victorian Velvet, Tattered Rose and a little bit of Aged Mahogany then I spritzed it with water.  When it was dry, I added just a little more Victorian Velvet to the mix.  Once it was completely dry I used a flower outline stamp from SU Greenhouse garden and stamped it randomly with Victorian Velvet.  I then spritzed it all with Champagne Mist shimmer paint to add some luscious sparkle.  Edges are sponged with Aged Mahogany

Paper number 2 was created by using the blending tool to rub inks into the Confetti White, this time I used Victorian Velvet, Tattered Rose and Tea Dye.  Spritzed with water and once dry I stamped French Script by Darkroom Door in Victorian Velvet.  I layered these papers onto SU Bravo Burgundy

I decided I'd try to watercolour with the distress inks (my very first attempt) Note to self:  Wait for the layers to dry before you go adding the background blue!  I made the green bleed into it in places and thought I'd just make it worse if I played around too much.

I've used my new Zinnia stamp from Flourishes.  I won this set in a recent blog hop for Copic Oz as they are the new distributor for Flourishes stamps in Australia.

I cut the image out with a Labels 4 Nestie and then cut two more the same size from the burgundy card.  Each of these were disected in 4 at various ponts to allow me to create the narrow frame as I'd used the largest one on the image so I couldn't cut another larger one as a mat.  I did the same with the sentiment.

I've used a couple of Cheery Lynne flourish dies to decorate, as the image is a flower it didn't seem right adding paper flowers to the card.  I've finished it off with some rose pink rhinestones.

I'm really happy with my first attempt at watercolouring with distress inks, I may need a bit more practice and perhaps a few more online tutorials before I will try to graduate to people images!

Thanks for stopping by and sticking with this long post.

This card is being entered into the following challenges.

Make It Monday ~ Linky Party
Flourishes ~ For Mother (opps missed the deadline!)
Wags 'n Whiskers ~ Distressing
Cheery Lynne ~  For Mum

I'm also supporting Southern Girls 'Get Your Girly On' Challenge this week as I'm one of their new DT members and I'm on Team Trace, this week is Team Lou.  So you'll have to wait to see my first Southern Girls post.

If you've made it this far, I have one more thing, a teaser if you like......I have some exciting news and I'm just waiting on approval to release it.....stay tuned....LOL

PLG Inspiration Photo #29

Welcome to a new inspiration photo challenge with the Paper Lovin' Gals.

These tulips are just so lovely such a pretty coral colour.  The inspiration for me was flowers and the gorgeous colour and colour I did!  I coloured this new digi Tutu Sweet from Meljens Designs.  She's totally sweet.

This little sweetie is also going into the following challenges.

Copic Oz has a fabulous flowers challenge this month, I've already got one card in, but had to post this one as well.

Fussy and Fancy have asked for Dies and Punches in their current challenge, so I cut two frames from Calypso Coral SU card using my Spellbinders labels 24 Nesties and linked them together to create this flower like frame for Tutu Sweet.

Make It Monday is a fabulous challenge site that has a Linky Party each week. Anything goes, so I like to play along.  The challenge here is to comment on other entries for the chance to win a prize!  This is a fabulous way to visit other blogs and see some amazing creative work.

My last 4 Crafy Chicks Guest Designer post

Gosh this past two months seems to have flown by!  As the saying goes....all good things must end, and so it is for my guest spot with the team at 4 Crafty Chicks.  I've had such a great time as a guest designer with this team of talented ladies.

This week's challenge is 'No stamping!'  That sent me scurrying in the direction of a scrapbook page, while I have done cards with no stamping on them, I don't do anywhere near enough scrap pages so this was an ideal opportunity.

Have you ever done a project based on an embellishment?  I did this page based on these swirly little brads!

The page is Elegant Eggplant from SU and the gold is a pearlised card that I had in my stash.  Then I went searching through the chipboard for something and found the two different flowers I've painted them up with Twinkling H2Os and then raided the rhinestone collection.

This is an old photo of my little miss, she's a big 3 and a half now!  She was two in this pic.  I also located my title chipboard in the stash and painted it up with pale green copic marker and more Twinkling H2Os.

Thanks Lori, Leanne, Melissa and Tamie for a fabulous time playing along with the 4 Crafty Chicks each week for the past two months!  It was fabulous sharing April with Heather too!

Come on over to the 4 Crafty Chicks and get creative with our No Stamping challenge!

Sweet Flying Tilda

I was touring around the blog-o-sphere and came across the Copic Marker Europe site.  Oh MY!  talk about some amazing work posted there, I took an extended tour of the blog and looked into some of the tutorials there as well. A M A Z I N G stuff.

I was particularly taken with the tutorial about Sepia colouring so decided to try it on my little Flying Tilda. It's been ages since I've posted a Tilda card.  I also did the little dots background that I've seen being used lately, both new techniques that I'm pretty happy with.

I used the Sketch from Sketch Saturdays and colours from CR84FN and am so happy with the combination that this has created.

Copics used.

Hair, dress, wings and shoes:  E40. E42, E43, E44 Sand spica
Skin: E50, E51, E53 & E93  BV000 for shadows (still perfecting this technique!)
Background:  R81, R83 & R84, blossom spica

Entering this little cutie into the following challenges.

Sketch Saturdays - Sketch
CR84FN - Colours - Medium Pink, Tan and Cream
Wags n' Whiskers Stamps - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Linky Party
Copic Oz - Flowers

Hope you have a great day.

Honoured three times!

Wow, what can I say?  I've been honoured by the Leibster Award once again, not once but twice.

Firstly my very good friend Monique from Stamping With Monique presented me with this award a few days ago.    Quite a few years ago, we became friends when Monique's husband moved to Canberra to work at the same organisation I worked at, we had a mutual friend and because he was new to town, we included him in our social gatherings.  Mon then joined her hubby and fell into a ready made social circle, we got on like a house on fire!  Monique has blamed me, accused me, ummm.... applauded me for reigniting her love of paper craft.  Not so sure her husband has though!

Pia from Pias Papir og Perler is a recent blend (blog friend) and left me a comment to tell me about the award, Pia also became my 100th follower today!  I'm amazed and honoured that so many talented artists out there choose to follow my work.  Thank you all so much for that lovely compliment.

This makes if 5 times that I have received this award!

Now the hard part is finding people out there who I haven't already passed this on to, so I'm coping out a bit here, but I'm not going to pass this on to anyone specifically.

If you have visited my blog, see this post and have under 200 followers....Please take this award and post it to your blog, award it on to others as you see fit.

All crafters who post regularly to their blogs and visit others to seek inspiration are deserving of being recognised.

Thank you to both Pia and Monique.  And thank you for visiting and for leaving your lovely comments and also for becoming followers of blogs.  Spread the love!

Cheers,

Hi there blends and visitors.  The challenge this week is bought to you by Rita.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

  2. Or Make a project using the " Ghosting (aka VersaMark Resist) Technique".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project using the " Sketch & the Ghosting Technique".
I chose to make a tag on my card using this fabulous Sweet Pea image Opalite by Rachel Anderson.  There is lots of sand and gold spica used on this image and she sparkles and shines.

I did some dry embossing and matted the layers with Calypso Coral to pick up that lovely soft orange in her dress and wings.  Unfortunately I didn't write down all the colours I've used.  Sorry!

The Friday Mashup design team has lots of lovely inspiration for you so head on over to our blog and check it all out!

ANZAC Day tribute

The 25th of April means so much to Australians and New Zealanders.  We commemorate ANZAC day.  ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

Below is an excerpt from the Australian War Memorial site explaining very briefly  what ANZAC day is all about.

Wednesday 25 April 2012

ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity. On ANZAC day, ceremonies are held in towns and cities across the nation to acknowledge the service of our veterans.

Lest we Forget...

When I saw that La La Land stamps had a Little Aussie Digger Luka, I just had to have it, I recently won a La La Land stamp from Mad for Markers blog hop and selected this I hope I've done him justice although I'm not so sure about that disruptive pattern on his uniform. (pity he's wearing an American hat it would have been so much better had he had the famous slouch hat on!)

This fits in so well for the Boys Dig It! challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks this week.  This is my second last post as a guest designer for their challenge, hope to see you joining in.

I'm also linking this card up to Make it Monday ~ Linky party

PLG new week

Hi all, I've been a bit MIA in this past week.  So much going on.  Worked for hours in the garden last Saturday and then I rearranged my whole craft room!  Yes shifting lots of stuff, meant emptying cupboards and shelves etc.  I blame Kate for it!  She is reorganising her space and posting each day different storage ideas etc.  So....it's ALL Kate's fault!  Still my space is a little more room, somehow though I didn't get the extra 3 metres I need nor did I end up with the shelves I would love.....sigh!  I'll post some photos on My Creative Space page, it's not that much difference though!

On to this weeks Paper Lovin' Gals photo inspiration challenge, I think Michele like orange!  This would have to be the fifth photo featuring orange!  Oh well, I just went with it.  I took the heart and orange and black.  You could take the tree, silhouettes, the sunset whatever inspires you from this picture, we can't wait to see your entry!

This has a Cheery Lynne heart die and a Marianne border die and very little stamping so it was fairly quick and easy, for which I'm grateful as I had little time available for making my inspiration card.

Check out what the other DT members have created by heading over to the Paper Lovin' Gals site.

Who is your favourite Muppet?

Holly is having a great deal of fun with this week's Friday Mashup by asking us to choose our favourite Muppet and make a card using those colours.  You have to name your Muppet too.

I had this fabulous idea to do the little dragon, then it kinda grew into creating a pile of treasure for him, then a bit more thinking and ...... oh yes put him in a cave! ....so I created the embossed card and clear embossed it to make the rocks, then it was all a bit stark .....some more thinking and I added the branches to hide the cave entrance.  LOL  Talk about an evolving creation!  He's cute though.

You really need to go check out what the DT has for you at the Friday Mashup.  We all love the Muppets!  And my Muppet inspiration was Kermit!

Rachel Anderson's Queen of Hearts!

Yes, that's right, another Queen of Hearts, this time a Sweet Pea stamp by Rachel Anderson.  She's stunning!

The skirt here is covered with sparkle, you can see slight sparkles on the top photo.  the shimmer is fabulous IRL (in real life)

One of the great things about being on a design team is the opportunity to visit all these amazing blogs out there, in the process of leaving comments I get to see amazing artwork and discover other challenges that I didn't know about before.

So this card is being entered into the following challenges...

4 Crafty Chicks using Fabric

Hello there Blends, here is something new for me, the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge this week is to use fabric on your project, yes I have used ribbons but not fabric.  I really went into a slight panic over this one as I haven't done much sewing for ages and didn't think I would have any fabric.  Anyway I did find some, I'd made a bag for my Mum to use to carry her rather heavy bible to church.

As I wanted a sturdy bag, we'd bought some tapestry fabric and this just turned out to be perfect for this challenge.

I love these heritage colours and it was perfect for the tapestry fabric.  I've even sewed on the card as well.  Something I don't usually do either!

Hope you're inspired to use Fabric on your projects this week and link up to the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge.

Sweet Pea feature

I sent some of my cards in to Sweet Pea to see if they would feature one of them in their customer gallery......The are showing all of them!  How exciting!

To celebrate I coloured up a new Sweet Pea stamp it's Blue Eye Fairy by Ching-Chou Kuik.  Stunning image and I followed the picture for inspiration and used multi colours on her hair.  LOVE the way she turned out.

You can see some of the shine and sparkly from the various spica pens that I used on her hair.  I think she looks so fabulous.  Hope you like her too.

Queen of Hearts

When I think of the Queen of Hearts, I usually think Alice in Wonderland, or even Jules from Always With a Heart!  Saturated Canary has this fabulous digi called Queen of Hearts and I put her together with this sketch from Fussy and Fancy.

I've used shimmer mist on the gray card stock and a Mather Stewart heart border punch as well as the Stampin' Up pinking hearts corner punch, then I punched out a few hearts and stuck them on the white card to make the background paper.  I even found some heart shaped rhinestones and chipboard which I covered with stickles just to add some more bling!  There is also lots and lots of spica on the image.

Clothes:- R32 R35 & R39
Stockings and cane:- C5, C7, 100
Hair:-  E40, E44, E21, E25, E71, E77
Skin:- E50, E51. E53 & E93

Have you got an iCan?

I was recently listening to a series of CDs to improve your self esteem.  The Fabulous Linda Larsen has you create a little project using a can then to put an I on it with the message Success comes in cans.  This is to remind you that you CAN do things, you CAN change your thoughts from negative to positive.  etc.  Anyone who has done any self improvement courses will be able to relate to this.  I believe in the power of positive thinking!

I decided that with the technology age and iPhones, iPads, iPods etc, this I needed to be an iCan!

I picked up this little metal and plastic clear mini paint tin at a Overflow and decorated it to place on my desk as a reminder that I CAN!  The flowers have been coloured with V91 copic, it is a lovely match for SU's Perfect Plum.  I also coloured the white grosgrain ribbon.

Now if this inspires you to make you own reminder that you CAN.  Have fun!  I'd love you to leave a comment and tell me about your own inspirational messages you have around you.

I'm entering this into the challenge at

Totally Stampalicious ~ Anything but a card.

Happy I Do Day!

Creating just for fun today and to enter some challenges.  I ended up with a wedding card, I really only wanted slight shading on this Saturated Canary digi image and used only E40 and 0 on her dress, then I decided it needed some sparkle and so I put sand spica to jazz it up.  Love the end result.  Her flowers and the rose on her dress are done with Gold and Sand spica pens and a touch of BV0000 for her eyes and bouquet.

Her hair has so many colours....

E11, 15, 19, 21, 23, 25, 33  Garnet, Sand, Gold, Chocolate spica

The sparkle doesn't show up so well in the photo though.

I found a couple of new (for me) challenges that I'm entering this card into.

Anything Goes ~ Anything Goes!

I'm also playing along with Southern Girls, not for prizes though as I'm new to their Design Team!  My first DT challenge will be next month.

Dare to be Fabulous!

Hi all, I picked up this fabulous 'Beach Baby' frog image from Whimsy Stamps as a digi by Chrissy Armstrong.  Isn't she just divine!  What better sentiment to put with her than 'Dare to be Fabulous!

She has just stepped out of the water and is standing in a puddle, that's my water for the Mad for Markers April Showers / Wet challenge.  I used the sketch from Sketch Saturdays but didn't make the deadline!  Oh well.  It is a pretty sketch anyway.

For this Bathing beauty I've used.

Frog body: YG11 & 17  Melon and Olive spica
Bathers Y11, Y15, Y17 R22, R27  Lipstick and Buttermilk Spica
Umbrella Y11, Y15 & Y17 Lipstick spica R22 and R27

Soooooo......

My new blog name is

Andrea, please also contact me via email so I can send you a little something as well.

Oh there have been so many fabulous suggestions for a new name for my blog. I have narrowed it down to two.

Sylvia-Anne suggested Purple Wings & Crafty Things which I changed to

Andrea suggested -  using SprINKles which I've changed to

I'm looking for a new name....

Hi blog friends, I have been thinking for some time that I'd like to update my blog name.

I've seen some very clever names out there in blogland but when I try to come up with something catchy or different......I come up blank.

So Help me out here please.  I have a prize for someone who comes up with a fabulous new name for my blog.

Included here is

1 Marianne Designables embossing and cutting folder
Nearly $70 in value!

These are 'pre loved' and as they have only been used once they are all in excellent condition.

If you would like to add these to your stash, put your thinking caps on and suggest some new names for my blog.

This will stay as a sticky at the top of my homepage until drawn on 5pm Friday 6th April (Aussie time)

Alyce has very rightly asked me what sort of things do I love.  So, to give you some small insight.

I believe in Fairies and magic

See what you can do with that lot!

Little Daisy

It is a sheer delight to colour a Sweet Pea stamp, this Little Daisy image is divine.  I love her to bits!

This is the second time I've coloured her and this time I went for soft blues and pinks as last time, she was very bright!

I used the feather technique for her wings and love the effect of three tones this creates.  I used my Lilac Spica to add some sparkle around her and on her wings, other spica pens have added glitter and sparkle on the image are Baby Blue, Sand, Sky Blue, Gold, Clear, Pink, Chocolate, Blossom and Buttermilk.  Maybe that wasn't enough?!?

I've also used one of my new embossing folders from Spellbinders, the reversible ones.  Love the concept.  I also sponged the background with Pretty In Pink ink to take away the stark white of the X-Press It blending card.

The only part I'm not super impressed with is her hair.  I'm still doing Workshop 2 with Mandi-Lee from Copic Me so I'm hoping that my skills will gradually improve as I learn more.  Oh if you join up to the class, it costs $35 AUD and you have access to the workshops for 3 months!  Lots of fabulous videos to follow and the tips and techniques are really helpful.  If you join from reading this, tell me and Mandi too.  She is giving some little prizes for people who recommend new participants, and who doesn't love a prize?

Little Daisy is destined to be shown off at the following challenges.

Flowers and more flowers at 4CCC

Third post for today!  easier to click on the home page link and scroll through them if you like.

I'm having a fabulous time creating for the 4 Crafty Chicks as their guest designer for March and sharing the spot with Heather for April.

This week, the challenge is Flowers.  What better to stamp to use than Wee Florist from Whimsy Stamps!  She is super cute and was just lovely to colour.  I coloured up some roses as well and added more flowers to the creation.

I cut the image out and popped her up on foam squares to provide some dimension.  Love the way she stands out against the teal background.

Hope you like my little Wee Florist.  Stop by the 4 Crafty Chicks site and see what the girls have for you.

Paper Lovin' Gals challenge

Hello again Blends, it's either feast of famine from me with my posts!  There will be at least three today.....lol

Here is my inspiration card for the Paper Lovin' Gals challenge.

No idea on the stamp as it was one I stamped up at the local craft store when I was there for a class and I forgot to write down the names.

I hope you can find some inspiration from the photo and come along to join in the fun.  If you haven't been there yet, head on over to the Paper Lovin' Gals blog and see what other inspiration the Design Team has for you.

Little Fairy

Hello there Blends, I've been on leave from work for 3 days and only had a small amount of time in the craft room!  I have made some DT cards in advance so I'm ahead of the game there.   Sorry, this has ended up quite a long post!  Cut to the chase and scroll to the card if you like!

I'm following with great interest the transformation of the crafting area of the very talented Kate Palmer.  This has inspired me to clean up my own act, thanks Kate!!!

I've just added a very cheap shelf above my desk just two cane boxes turned on their sides and a plank of light ply wood across to add a shelf!  Too easy, just using bits and pieces from around the house and lots more space.  I also picked up two A2 craft mats at the Reject Shop for $7 each!  Now most of my desktop is covered, slight overhang on one side. but lots of creating space.

Now all I have to do is keep it tidy like this!  (to quote a famous Aussie movie....'tell her she's dreaming')  I have some tv remote control holder boxes which house all sorts of little things, like small tools, my sheets of bling, rolls of tape, glue dots etc.  I also have a little document holder which I have printed out DT and challenge info on it and at the moment it has my homework from the Online Copic class I'm doing with Mandi-Lee at CopicMe

I had a commission from one of the ladies at work for a Birthday card for a two year old and the only stipulation was it had to have a fairy on it!  Well that one was right up my alley but as it was for such a little one, I didn't want one of the sophisticated fairies I have and I found this beautiful little Sweet Pea stamp in my collection from Conie Fong.

I used a lot of spica pen on this image to give her a really pretty sparkle without overpowering the image, I've taken a pic on an angle so you can see the shine on her hair, wings and dress.

I've also decorated inside as this little poem is so cute and just right for a two year old.

I'm entering this little fairy into the following challenges.

Flutter By Wednesday's ~ Anything Goes as long as it's a Fairy, Butterfly or Angel
Make it Monday ~ Anything Goes linky party

Whew!  Congratulations, you made it through my super long post.
