Off the Page with Mad for Markers!

Sammi at Mad for Markers has inspired me to make this project with her fabulous shoes post and I loved her tips about using copics on the canvas shoes too.  Because of those tips (thank you Sammi), I decided to stamp onto the shoes and colour the images.  No fancy blending here, no sir-reee.  I used far less ink than Sammi did on her shoes.

The little canvas shoes are a sale item from KMart and cost me $4!  Got to be happy with that, if it doesn't work then I've not wasted too much money.  LOL

I stamped the shoes with Memento ink and used a couple of Stampin' Up! sets Simply Said and Merci.  Some of my stamping was a little soft so I used a multi liner to fix that.

OK, so you get the idea of what I'd done with the stamps.

My tip when colouring on canvas or fabric is to just dab the tip of your marker in the centre of the image first, then slowly dab around that first spot of colour to increase the amount of colour you have in the image, allow the ink time to seep into the fabric before you add the next spot closer to the lines.  Too much ink too close to the line and it will just seep out past your lines.

Sammi was right about bleeding!  Another tip from me.  DON'T try to fix it with your 0 copic marker, it makes it a whole lot worse.  As you can see by the pink flower on the front of the shoe on the left.

Hope you're inspired to try using your copics on some ordinary things, you've got all month to come up with something fabulous!  Please see Sammi's post as she lets you know some things NOT to use them on so you don't ruin the tips of your markers.

I'm entering this project into the following challenges

Mad For Markers - Off the Page

Make it Monday - Linky Party  -  Oh no, I broke the rules as this project isn't paper based. It had to be removed from MIM  "sigh"  Sorry Michelle!

Cheers,

  1. Hi Kasey

Wow, what an awesome idea!! These shoes look fantastic, I'm sure I could do something more masculine to suit my boys.

Unfortunately though Kasey, as these do not use any paper they are not an eligible entry in the Make It Monday linky party.

    Sorry!

    Michelle :o)
