The joy of creating

Welcome to my post and my blog, stay around and peek into some of my past posts, If you see something you like, please leave me a comment so I know you've stopped in.

I've been pretty busy with DT work and work in general and finally things are starting to settle down to quiet chaos and I found some time to make up this Saturated Canary image 'Glinda'  She's been coloured with copics and will be used to say a sad farewell to one of my staff at the end of this week.

Here is a close up of 'Glinda' with the gorgeous Wild Orchid flowers, there are a a couple of other flowers in the mix but I don't know the manufacturer as I picked them up from a haberdashery store and they had no tags.  I'm becoming addicted to these Wild Orchid Flowers, OH MY, I've had two huge orders in the past couple of months their prices are amazing and the parcel arrived from England to Australia super quick.  I think I now have somewhere around 1,500 - 2,500 flowers, that should keep me busy, Oh they are tiny so they don't take up that much space!

The papers are from a Papermania stack all blues, SU card stock in Bashful Blue and Marina Mist.  Pale blue glitter on the peaks of the Nesti border.  This was split diagonally in half then placed around the image and the gaps covered by the flower sprays!  The sentiment is SU and it's layered on my new Whimsy label die which is totally gorgeous.

Copics used
Boooo, B00, B02 & 0
Skin: E00, E01 & E93
Hair: E11, E21, E15, E23, E25
Baby Blue spica

I'm entering Glinda into the following challenges

Wild Orchid Challenge ~ Bingo ~ I chose Blue, Flowers & Glitter
Bunny Zoe's Crafts challenge #24 ~ Anything Goes

Whimsy Inspiration Challenge # 41

Hello!  I hope you're feeling creative and are ready to play along with our challenge this week at the Whimsy Inspirations Challenge blog.

This week we bring you a bingo or Tic Tac Toe challenge.  I chose the top line of Pearls, Image and Flowers.  Although I could have easily used all of them!

I've used one of Chrissy Armstrong's beautiful digi images Daisy Butterfly, I love the flowing wings and I used my copic markers to colour this one up as well as add some colour to the flowers.

Don't forget that there are some prizes up for grabs!  Can't wait to see your creations using one of the lines on the Bingo board.

Adding this card to the Make it Monday linky party.

School Reunion!

Hello there, It's been a hectic week this last week.  Two days in Sydney for work then I come home sick with a really heavy cold.  On Friday, my brother and I went over to Magnetic Island where we went to the Horseshoe Bay Primary School reunion!  Can you believe that?  Primary School ! ! !

The school was this tiny building on stilts, one room and one teacher who taught grades 1 to 7, there were only 4 kids in my class and probably only 20 to 30 kids in the whole school.  We had a really lovely time catching up with people who we hadn't seen in many years, although I begged off attending the Bay of Origin football game on Sunday due to my cold and feeling so miserable and spent it rugged up reading and sleeping.

The school closed in 1972 and I was one of the last students there, we even had a picture taken on the last day.  Sorry it's pretty old and blurred.

Below is a pic of Prue, Darrel, me and Jay.

I'll get some crafting done soon and will be back later in the week.

Farewell to the Paper Lovin' Gals

Hi everyone, this will be my final post for Paper Lovin' Gals.  Michele had decided to put Paper Lovin' Gals on hold for a few months.  Life seems to be getting a little bit hectic for a lot of us.

So here is our final Paper Lovin' Gals challenge.

This photo reminded me of dragonfly wings so that's exactly what I turned to.  I think next to Butterflies, these are my favourite creatures.  They are fascinating to watch them flitter around the garden or a pond.

This is a Stampendous stamp and I've gone for a striking Black and White theme.  It doesn't show in the photo, but the white is all spritzed with Champagne shimmer mist and the wings are glazed with a Smooch irridescent wash, lots of subtle shimmer on the card.

Hope this photo inspires you to create something special.

Head on over and see what the DT are up to at the Paper Lovin' Gals blog, you'll find some amazing cards over there.

I hope you're able to join us for our final inspiration challenge.

Not so Shabby

I'd say it's more Vintage than Shabby with these deep browns, what do you think?

Hello everyone, through the miracle of modern technology, (hopefully) this post is going live while I'm about 3000klms away from my computer!  I'm in Sydney for a few days so I'm apologising if you're missing my comments.  I will try to catch up when I get back, but I'm only home for a day! then I'm off again.  Why do things tend to happen all at once?

On to my post, This week Whimsy Inspirations challenges brings you a Shabby Chic challenge. I've used two of the fabulous StampArt digi's here, Blooming Border 2 which I used twice to create this lovely border for the Inspirational Cross both available at Whimsy Stamps store.

I fussy cut the outside edge to layer it on the deep brown layer.  All coloured with Copics and very few colours used.
The flowers are a mix of E31, E33, E35 & E37 with some chocolate spica and adhesive pearls.  The cross is E31 with smooch on the border the tulips are G43 & G46 for the leaves and Y15, 17 & 19.

I found some cork sheets really cheap (they are quite thin) and I've had the Weathered Clock die for ages, this is the first time I've used it...LOL not that you can see much of it.  I've also used some of the fabulous corner embellishments I got from Wild Orchid Crafts and some lace and tuelle.  Lots of layers and Vintage Photo distress ink.

I hope you're inspired to join us this week and show us your Shabby Chic creations.

Cheers,

On the Edge!

Hello Friday Mashup fans, Kasey here, I am both excited and a little bit sad, this week marks the end of my term on the Friday Mashup Design Team.  I'm finishing on a week where it is my turn to bring you the challenge and I want you to be On the Edge!  Yes that's right, have a decorative edge on your project and mash it up by using ribbons and bows.

Such a fabulous picture that Justin and Mary gave Holly permission to use for our challenge graphic this week.

I have to thank Holly for taking me on to her team, firstly as a Guest Designer and then as a permanent member of the team.  My very first DT gig!  I've had such a wonderful time working with these talented crafters.  I've also seen some amazing creations from you, our followers and participants, in our weekly challenges.

Welcome to the new Friday Mashup DT members, I am sure they are going to be bringing you some amazing projects to inspire and challenge you. I'll still be around on blog land and I'm working on three other DTs, I'll even stop by the Friday Mashup now and then to play along!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project " with a Decorative Edge! "
  2. Or Make a project with " Ribbon and or a Bow. "
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project " with a Decorative Edge & Ribbon ".
Can't wait to see your edgy creations, here's mine!

This is Adele and she appears to be lost in thought so I had to use this sentiment.  I love the way she turned out, she has this soft almost ethereal appearance to her, or perhaps that's just the look on her face.

Coloured with Copics

E11, E15, E19 & E50 for her hair
E50, E51, E53 for her skin.
I think I used YG41 and YG45 for her shirt (but my memory can't be relied on)

Doily, butterflies and this gorgeous flourish are all from Cheery Lynne.  The butterfly border is a round the page punch set from Martha Stewart
Beautiful metal butterfly is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the satin ribbon is from my stash and I've added some Kaisercraft pearls.

Hope you're inspired to get On the Edge this week and don't forget to add those ribbons and bows!  Check out the amazing Friday Mashup DT inspiration.

I'm also adding this one to Make it Monday

Another week at PLG!

Wow this week's Paper Lovin' Gals inspiration photo is just fabulous!  I love trees, and this one is no exception.  I decided right from the start that I would try to recreate this collection of paintings and here's what I came up with.

I used distress inks and sponged the panels then I stamped the tree image onto the panels and used copic markers to make the leaves.  I'm really pleased with the result, it's a lot more subtle than the original.

Can't wait to see what your take on this fantastic picture inspiration is.  You can see what the Paper Lovin' Gals DT came up with here.

Anything goes

Hello and welcome to a new 'Anything Goes' challenge at Whimsy Inspirations Challenge Blog

I am now singing "da da de a glimpse of stocking.. da de da.. as something shocking ... heaven knows, anything goes.  I can see this will be one of those song worms, pity I don't know the words properly!  LOL  Hope I haven't started that worm for you now.

My card this week features a fabulous 'Spring Garden' of flowers in this digi from Moon Cookie Gallery available from Whimsy Stamps store.

I decided to do a little bit of layering with this image and have layered the flowers so I printed out the image at the same size three times and proceeded to colour up all the flowers that I wanted to layer.  Lots of 'fussy cutting' later and some foam dots, a bit of bling and some spica pen.  I've added a punched strip, a die cut butterfly and label for the sentiment.

So if you want to get your hands on one some fabulous digi stamps from Whimsy, enter our anything goes challenge and you could win a $15 certificate!

Remember if you use a Whimsy stamp you also go into the draw for an additional prize of one digi stamp!  How cool is that?

This is also another entry at Make it Monday linky party!

Sweet Purple Aleisha

I finally put an order in for some Make it Crafty digi's and I have to say, I love them, they are such a pleasure to colour, all that flowing hair!

Here is Aleisha, a study in purple, I've surrounded her with some gorgeous flowers, my order from Wild Orchid Crafts arrived, and I now have lots and lots of tiny roses, I think I'll need to order some slightly larger ones too.  The large purple rose totally gorgeous, I can't remember where I got that one from I've sprayed it with a mix of Pearl-ex powder in rubbing alcohol, I sprayed two smaller rosebud too.

I've layered Aleisha on a Cheery Lynne doily die and then cut a fanciful flourish and a small butterfly in SU Concord Crush.

She's been coloured with Copic markers and this is my first attempt at doing the platinum blonde hair.  I've used E40 and E42 and 0 to do her hair along with some clear spica to add some shine.

Hope you like my Aleisha and the study in purples, my all time favourite colour!

Entering this into the challenge at Cheery Lynne Designs
and it's my second entry at Make It Monday.

Friday Mashup

I've been a little bit MIA lately, sorry for not responding to your comments, I will try to get it done this weekend.  I've scheduled all my posts for this week well ahead of time.

It's getting close to the end of my term on the design team here at the Friday Mashup.  Just a few more to go.  Lisa brings us this week's challenge.  It is a solemn one.  I don't really have any patriotic stamps so went with the colour combo.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project that's "Patriotic or for Remembrance".
  2. Or Make a project with the colors " Whisper White, Night of Navy, Poppy Parade & daffodil Delight."
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Remembrance or Patriotic project using the colors above."
  4. Donate your card to a Wounded Solider or that Special Service Member in your Life!
* If you would like to Donate a Card to a Wounded Service Member you can send your cards to Holly. The Red Cross at the Walter Reed National Medical Center will accept the cards and distribute them to Wounded Service Members throughout the hospital. Please send your cards to Holly Endress P.O. Box 18 Arnold, MD 21012 no later then May 31st. She will be hand delivering them to the Red Cross.

I stamped the SU Stipple Rose onto Night of Navy and embossed it in black.  I then spent a few days giving it the bleach treatment!, intrestingly though after bleaching out the roses and leaves, when I tried to colour them, the colour kept bleaching out.  LOL I ended up with this lovely mottled colour, I liked it so much I thought you might too.  I have deliberately left the sentiment off this one, I think it would work for a thank you or a sympathy card.

Check out the gorgeous projects from the design team.  I hope you're inspired to create and also send a card or two for donation.

Flowers at Paper Lovin' Gals

This week our inspiration photo is of these fabulous flowers.

I decided that most of the time I copy the picture closely so this time I just went with Flowers.  Not just any flowers though, these are some new Digi stamps I got from Meljens Designs.  So cute!  I've used Copic markers to colour these flowers up, added lots of spica pen and then crystal effects and glitter to the flower centres.

You really need to visit the Paper Lovin' Gals blog to check out the fabulous inspiration projects the girls have for you.

Southern Girls first DT Post and it's All About the Boys!

Wow, it seems like ages since I joined Team Trace at Southern Girls Challenges, but this is my first post for them!

For challenge #44 All About the Boys, I've used a Pink Gems digi image called 'Josh with Puppy', I had actually coloured him up in brighter colours blues and reds, but I wasn't happy with it so I coloured him up a second time and I'm much happier with the end result.  I found some perfect papers for him in a KaiserCraft Hunt & Gather 6 x 6 pad, SUs soft suede card base and the yellow papers are freebies from a craft magazine.

Lots of faux stitching to provide some detail and Josh is ready to say Happy Birthday to some lucky boy.

Copics used.
Skin: E50, E51, E53 BV0000
Hair and Puppy: W1, W3, & W5
Shirt: N1, N3, N5, YG 91 YG 95 Buttermilk Spica
Pants:  YG91 & 95
Boots: Y11, Y15 Y19 Buttermilk Spica

Can't wait to see what you do with our 'All About the Boys' challenge, Team Trace have some amazing projects to share with you.

Make it Pop!

The Whimsy challenge this week is to make it pop!  I've used two digi stamps and papers from Whimsy.  The stamps are by Chrissy Armstrong 'Sarah' and 'Love Seat'. I've also used some gorgeous digi papers 'Vintage Summer Garden' from Michelle R Designs.

Lovely dusky pinks in these papers and a touch of purple too.  What's not to love?!

I love the way this love seat just pops on the old fashioned roses wallpaper, at least that's what I think it looks like.  The edgesof the papers have been inked with Victorian Velvet distress ink.

Thanks for visiting, you can see the fabulous inspiration cards from the rest of the Whimsy Digi Design Team at the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Challenge Blog.

Hope to see your projects that POP!

Silver Fairy

I have such a hectic work month on this month and I've been flat out getting my DT commitments sorted and making cards ahead of time.  Just when I need it the least, I get sick!  I've got an infected lymph node on my neck.  Rather painful and being treated with antibiotics and pain killers, so my crafting and blogging is limited for now.

I found a card that I had made a while ago but hadn't posted, so I've decided to post it for you now.

This is the gorgeous Silver Fairy from Whimsy Stamps.  I fell in love with her the moment I saw her and just had to have her!

This second photo is to show the shimmer from the spica pens, lots in her hair and on her wings.

This card is for the 4 Crafty Chicks use your favourite embellishment.  Well in case you hadn't guessed, for me it's bling!  then flowers, then dies and all three are on this card.

I'm also linking up to Make it Monday linky party.

Thanks for stopping in to visit.

Sorry because I coloured her up a while ago, I'm a bit vague on the colours used.  Here goes.....  Dress is W1, W3 and W5, underskirt is R56 and R59 Wings are R81, R83 and R85 and W1, 3 & 5  Hair is E21, 33 and 35 (I think), skin is E50, 51 &53  Leggins and armbands  YG91 and 95

  1. Make a project for "Mom, Grandmother, Aunt etc...".

I've used the sensational Wee Florist from Whimsy Stamps here, I just love this little stamp.

She's coloured with Copic markers and I've used a Martha Stewart round the page pansy punch set to create the border.  The burgundy scroll is a frame from Marianne Designs and a Corture Victorian die to cut the frame.  With all that lovely detail I tried to keep the card  fairly simple and didn't use patterned papers.

Have fun being inspired with our joint challenge.

Spots and Dots at Whimsy

Hello all, this is my very first post for the Whimsy Digi Design Team!  How exciting is that?  The Challenge we have for you this week at the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Challenges is 'Spots and Dots'  I've used spotted grosgrain ribbon and dotted pearls around as accents.

This is the first time I've used digital papers and I have to say, I love them!  These Michelle R Designs Blue Linen Floral papers are gorgeous vintage style and I've added some ink on the edges to add to the vintage look.  The image is a digi from StampArt called Full Bloom. My apologies, I incorrectly listed it as a LiaStampz when this post first went live. I've coloured it up with copic markers and spica pens.  The Sentiment is Spring Sentiment 5 from Raindrop Echo Designs.

A funny thing happened on the way to making this card.  See those lovely pearly flower centers?  Well, they are tiny adhesive pearls, I put them on and then completely forgot about them and ran the image through the bigshot to die cut it and it squished the little pearls flat!  After a moment of sheer panic....I realised that they looked OK like that and I finished the card off.  I have to laugh because, I 'discover' a lot of things by 'accident' just like that.

Head on over to the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Challenges and see what the talented Digi Design Team has to inspire you

Cheers,
