Mysterious Valentine

Hi everyone, I've got a little smash book page to show you today.  I've picked up some Prismacolour pencils and here what I came up with in my first play with them.  I used Ruby, a fabulous Make it Crafty image from the new masquerade range.

Ruby comes with two different masks and you can use a program like paint.net or photoshop to put her mask on or like me you print it out and pop it up on top.  I cut tiny little holes to put the stem of the mask in her hand.

This is the full page, I had this idea going round my head to make a fan, I have images from the movies of masquerade balls with gorgeous dresses, lace fans and glittering masks.  I used some textured pink butterfly paper that I've had for an age as it fit the theme perfectly.

The chipboard here is from Make it Crafty I love how delicate Zoe makes her chippies.  Gorgeous to work with and perfect for cards.  Here I've coloured the butterfly with BG13 and BG57 then coated it with clear spica pen, it's gone a very different colour with the spica over the top, it seems to have added more yellow.  still they do look so pretty.

The corners are painted with nail polish!  two coats of colour and one of clear to bring  out the shine just like you would paint your nails!

I'm entering Ruby into the following challenges.

Our Creative Corner - Picture inspiration - Mask
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Flutter By Wednesday - Anything Goes (butterfly or fairy)
In the Pink - Pink Valentine  (Valentine's are usually a mystery hence the mask)

Thanks for stopping by, it feels really good to be back creating for challenges again!

Cheers,

Card Pattern Sketches and Our Creative Corner

Hi all,  I have locked myself away in the airconditioning today and been a little bit creative.  Yes, I can hear a few of my followers going WHAT?  Airconditioning?  LOL at least those of you in the Europe or US and Canada where winter is in full swing.  Here down under, it's very much in the middle of summer and we are sweltering, the humidity has been horrid but the storms have kept away, we've only scored a little bit of rain from the heat and clouds.  Oh well, it's only for a few more months then it will start to cool off to a more bearable temp.  Anyway enough grumbling about the weather, it's not going to change because I grumble!

Here is my take on the Card Patterns Sketch this week

I've combined it with the challenge over at Our Creative Corner and added a ribbon ruffle instead of the scallop in the sketch, I also went with a square card and oval shape.

I've combined my favourite Christmas colours together but missed the deadline for SU Only, I was really sad to see Handsome Hunter go out of the SU colour range.  One of my all time favourite greens and I still have a little bit left.

Cardstock:  Bravo Burgundy, Hansdome Hunter, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Versamark, Bravo Burgundy
Stamps:  Occasional Greetings, Illuminated (wheel)
Accessories:  Rhinestones, Very Vanilla satin ribbon, Scallop edge punch.  Bigshot Ovals die.

Thinking of an unscripted masculine card? Here it is!

UPDATE:  I'm in the TOP 3 at Unscripted Sketches!  Woo Hoo thank you Unscripted DT for selecting my card.

Also in the TOP 3 for SU Only Challenges.  That deserves another little happy dance!  Thanks SU Only DT for selecting my card.

OK, OK. it is getting harder to come up with interesting post titles!  Yes I know this one is a bit lame!  oh well you do get that at times.  By the way, what is it with Blogger lately, only showing the latest post?  ggrrrrrrrrrr or is it just me?  I've checked my settings and they are fine.

I've had some time to put together another card for challenges, I'm on a roll, I made the 'painting' a while ago and when I saw the Unscripted sketch this week, I knew that I had to use it in this card.

That top rectangle just spoke to me.  I'm sure you know what that's like.  Anyway, here is my take on the sketch, I've also used the SU Only challenge ~ Thinking Of You and the Our Creative Corner ~ Masculine theme.

Here is a close up of the 'Painting' the Notably Ornate frame always looked like a picture frame to me so I embossed it in gold and then cut it out with a craft knife and paper snips, sponging the background and layering the boat in there on dimensionals, I've also used dimensionals to pop the frame up above the background.  I love the way it turned out.

Here is the card in full
