My last 4 Crafy Chicks Guest Designer post

Gosh this past two months seems to have flown by!  As the saying goes....all good things must end, and so it is for my guest spot with the team at 4 Crafty Chicks.  I've had such a great time as a guest designer with this team of talented ladies.

This week's challenge is 'No stamping!'  That sent me scurrying in the direction of a scrapbook page, while I have done cards with no stamping on them, I don't do anywhere near enough scrap pages so this was an ideal opportunity.

Have you ever done a project based on an embellishment?  I did this page based on these swirly little brads!

The page is Elegant Eggplant from SU and the gold is a pearlised card that I had in my stash.  Then I went searching through the chipboard for something and found the two different flowers I've painted them up with Twinkling H2Os and then raided the rhinestone collection.

This is an old photo of my little miss, she's a big 3 and a half now!  She was two in this pic.  I also located my title chipboard in the stash and painted it up with pale green copic marker and more Twinkling H2Os.

Thanks Lori, Leanne, Melissa and Tamie for a fabulous time playing along with the 4 Crafty Chicks each week for the past two months!  It was fabulous sharing April with Heather too!

Come on over to the 4 Crafty Chicks and get creative with our No Stamping challenge!

4 Crafty Chicks guest designer spot

Hi there friends, I'm really excited to be making this post!  This is my first Guest Designer spot with the 4 Crafty Chicks.  Heather has been in the Spotlight for February and now it's my turn and we'll share the spotlight in April.  I love that we will both be designing for April.

Anyway, on to this week's challenge.  Anything but a card.  That gives you all so much scope, 3d or scrapbook page or even an off the page item.  I went with a scrapbook page. with photos of my gorgeous granddaughter.

My photography skills are somewhat lacking so I apologise that this is a little blurry.
I had this fabulous Die Cuts With a View Alphabet paper pad it's all black, white, gray and sliver.  Gorgeous papers which worked beautifully with the BnW pics.

Here's a close up of my favourite photo of my cherub.

Hope you join us at the 4 Crafty Chicks for this fabulous challenge.

Miss Three

Welcome to a new Paper Lovin' Gals challenge.  This week the photo is so light and fresh which makes a lovely change from all those winter and Christmas scenes.

I chose to go with a double scrapbook page this week as the background papers have lots of soft yellow in them and there is really soft and pretty yellow flowers as well.

This is my granddaughter Danielle on her third birthday.  Love how these pages turned out.  I have been hoarding the Gypsy Sisters papers from Kaisercraft for ages and finally got a chance to use them here.

OK so I've already admitted to being a lousey photographer, maybe that's a course I need to go on!  The pictures depict the cake ceremony that is attached to all Birthday celebrations.  The cutting and eating part is here which of course is just the best part!

If you haven't been there yet, then head over to the Paper Lovin' Gals blog and check out the amazing projects the Design Team has for you, I hope you are inspired to create your own project and link it up to our challenge.

Little Girlfriends TCR #93

The Colour Room has it's latest pallet up and it's simply gorgeous, I've used both the pallete and the sketch to create this page.

My granddaughter went to her very first birthday party and it was a fairy princess theme, all the guests (thee of them) arrived in purple fairy costumes!  While the birthday girl, Katie (4) was in multi colours, the photos of them sitting in the garden were so cute.  This one only shows three, the fourth was a little reluctant to join in at the time. (my Granddaughter is on the left)

Head over to The Colour Room, be prepared to be amazed at the stunning creations you'll see.  Thanks for stopping by my blog, please leave a comment so I know you've stopped by.

There is a combination of products used here.

Coredinations CS, Green Tara Flowers, Kaisercraft flowers, ScrapFX chipboard, Kaszzaz Chipboard words, Rhinestions, Stampin' Up Baroque Motifs stamp, Stamp It harlequin stamp.

**********************************

I'm really enjoying getting back to doing some scrapbooking, There seemed to be a block there when ever I thought of doing a page and I think it's been close to a year since I did a SB Layout, I think I got past my block as I've made 5 pages in the past week!

Here is one that I did for the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge

I really love this photo of my beautiful granddaughter Danielle, such a trusing look that says I believe in you.  The photo was taken when she was two, she's a big girl of three now!

Cherub...

Yes I'm back with another scrapbook page, I used the sketch from Once Upon a... Sketch which I thought was beautiful, and it came together so well.  The only thing that I didn't do was scrap new years eve which was the challenge criteria, so I can't enter the page in the challenge but I'm happy to have used the gorgeous sketch to create my page.

This photo was taken at Danielle's 2nd birthday celebration a few days before her birthday.  As it is her new year I wonder if it will fit?  I'll try it, I'm happy if my page can not be considered for prize draws or selection as a featured page due to bending the new year part.

Card:-  Patterned plum; Coredinations textured Plum; soft green Unknown
Papers:-  Kaiser Craft Dancing Jewel
Embellishments:-  Flowers:-  Green Tara; Kaisercraft Chipboard:-  A2Z scraplets; Scallop punch EK Success;  Pearl flourishes:- Flourish with a Bling and Zva Creative.

Thanks for stopping by.

Colour Room entry

I finally got the courage up to do a scrapbook page, I don't know what it is that I find so daunting about scrap pages, maybe it's all that space....LOL  I do know that I struggle with the journaling I have the worst hand writing, so this time I went to my trusty computer and cut strips of text.

I've used both the colour palette from The Colour Room and the sketch as I still consider myself a novice as far as scrapbooking goes.

The photos are of my granddaughter at about 8 months old, once she discovered the doggie door she was off!  Love this series of photos of her.  Too cute.

I might just head back into the craft room for another play!  This is my last day off work, 11 days all up including the public holidays, and it all seems to have gone by so fast.

Waiting for Fairies!

I've been a member of The Colour Room for a while now and every now and then when I get my email I'm inspired to create using their colour combo or sketch, this time I actually used both and created a new scrapbook page, I haven't done that for ages! So thank you Colour Room for your inspiration.

Waiting for Fairies has been waiting for a while to be created, I have had these photos printed out for ages and I'm so happy with this page using the colours.

My mother had a bushy plant at the side of the garden path and Danielle loved to sit in it, almost hiding, she said she was 'Waiting for Fairies' and would sit very still and close her eyes hoping the fairies would show up.

I used Grunge Paper for the first time, it's amazing stuff, I LOVE it.  Is it just me or does it smell like leather?  I've cut the grunge paper with the Sizzix Tim Holtz Tattered Florals to make the flowers, cut them from grunge paper and then sponged SUs Melon Mambo lightly on the large one, then darker on the other one.  The two other flowers in the big stacks are sponged with a mix of Champagne Shimmer Mist and Sahara Sand, both SU products.

The photos are backed with Soft Suede of course it's been sprayed with shimmer paint, I've stamped a script text in Soft Suede and then spritzed it with markers in Pretty in Pink, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand then a random spritz of shimmer paint.  I'm really happy with the effect.

Dress Ups Scrapbook page

I found this page in my pre packing clean up in the craft room, it was in one of those plastic page double pockets where you put your page papers and elements to take to a class it had just been put in with all my papers and totally forgotten about.  I did it for my demonstration about woven paper technique at the SU Cairns Regionals.....ages ago.

Those of you who have been visiting me for a while will have seen my woven paper backgrounds for cards, this shows how easily they can be used for scrapping too.

This of course is my beautiful grand daughter Danielle, she was about 2 in this picture and had discovered my sarongs and scarves and a sparkly hat so we played dress ups.  She has fairy wings and dancing dresses in her dress ups box but these held more appeal on the day.

Nana's Pajama Princess

I've been a bit mojo-less for a few months now as far as scrapbooking pages go. But I've been taking lots of lovely photos of my beautiful little grand daughter Danielle.

She has a sleep over regularly and this series of pics was taken one morning when she put her dress up princess crown (tuelle and flowers circlet) on with her pajama's, couldn't resist this double page spread, the look on her face when I said I needed the flash on the camera was just priceless, she was trying to smile and avoid the flash at the same time! Hope you can see it in these pics.

I really love the way these pages turned out, maybe my scrapping days will come around more often now....LOL

27 July 2009

A recent trip up to North Queensland to see this little Cherub resulted in some beautiful photos being taken so naturally, Nana's been scrapping! I've finally gotten around to uploading some of my latest pages. This is a kit that I got from Kimmie at Paperartsy. I've added a few more flowers but loved the layout and words so it's pretty much what Kim designed.

I went to Amanda's of Mogo and spent ages browsing in her shop (and a small fortune!) , she has the most wonderful things and a lot of stock that is different to what I can get here in Canberra. Anyway the leaves here are done in a gold verdigris leaf then clear embossed. I think I'll try Crystal Effects next time to see if that doesn't mute the foil leaf. Yes, I still have to add the journalling!

I picked up a scrapbooking magazine and there was this layout using the Airy Fairy papers from Kaiser Craft. I just love butterflies and fairies so had to 'case' it. I did add more butterflies and changed it slightly but essentially it's the same. Yes I still have to add the journalling, I struggle with that so usually leave it for weeks after I've completed the page.

After finishing the kit that I got from Kim, I had some more of the Garden Arabesque papers so created this layout. Hope you like it, I love how the dragonflies turned out.

Danielle herself picked out the flowers when I took her to the scrapbooking shop while I was in Nth Qld, so naturally I had to use them on a page for her. Cheeky minx loves to pick her Nan's flowers and eat them, she knows she's not allowed to, which is why she has her cheeky grin showing in the main photo. I spent a lot of time fishing petals out of her mouth!

Hope you enjoy.

Becca n Blake

I've been playing around with editing and printing my digital photos and this pic of my daughter and grandson looked stunning in black and white, so adding just a touch of colour with the burgundy matting and ribbon seems to bring a slight pink tinge to the photo. I'm very happy with the results on this page. although my own photography skills need improvement as this photo of the page is just a bit blurred. I'm struggling a bit with the whole journal thing for scrapbooking and hope to improve on that one. I haven't added any here yet, I'll get around to it one day!

Splash!

Hi again, I've been busy creating scrapbook pages of my beautiful granddaughter Danielle. This photo of her in the bath was taken when she was about 4 mths old. Such big blue eyes it called out for lots of blue. I 'CASED' the splash layout from a scrapbooking magazine with a few changes.

The chipboard letters were inked in white craft ink then when dry were inked again in green. I then used the hot pink marker to edge each letter to tie it in with the colours in the ribbon. The background is simply an ink pad pressed lightly directly onto the card stock keep going turning the pad around until you get the textured look you're after. I've sponged the blue ink on the edges of some of the green flowers and added a bright blue rhinestone brad for a bit of bling!

Cheeky Girl

These photos were taken of Danielle on Christmas Day, when she was 4 months old.....She looked like a little Christmas fairy in her dress, which I have from a very reliable source tasted just delicious!

I'm very happy with the end result of this page. I've used the I Wish simply scrappin' kit and Real Red, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip. Stamped the Scribble This flower twice in Real Red ink and added a little bit of Kindy Glitz. The Chipboard letters are covered in Red Riding Hood Designer Series Paper and the edges of the letters were brushed with Chocolate Chip Marker.

Danielle's Birth Announcement

I created this to celebrate the birth of my beautiful granddaughter Danielle Leigh. Along with a matching card. I hope you enjoy it and it inspires you to create.
