Friday Mashup by me!

Welcome to a new Friday Mashup Challenge,  Kasey here bringing you challenge # 46, thanks Holly for the byline on the graphic!  

I've come up with a fairly simple sketch and your challenge is to use the sketch and or mash it up by going Vintage or Shabby Chic. 

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

1. Make a project using the "Sketch".  
2. Or Make a  "Shabby Chic / Vintage" project.  
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Shabby Chic/Vintage project using the Sketch".

We have been so excited by the growth of entries the Friday Mashup challenge has been getting each week, it's lovely to know our challenges get you thinking and creating so thank you for playing along with us each week,  we love seeing what you create.

As I'm a huge fan of Shabby Chic and Vintage, I've gone down that path and I've even turned my sketch on its side!  Just check out the fabulous projects from the very talented Friday Mashup DT.  WOW!  

For my card, I've used SU cardstock Bravo Burgundy and Naturals Ivory.  I found some velvet ribbon in my stash and added some eyelet style lace with some burgundy cord threaded through it to make my 'corners'.  Lots of lovely paper roses and some distressing ink and one of my favourite SU stamp sets Sense of Time, Victorian embossing folder and frame a bit of sponging and voila....Shabby Chic/Vintage is complete.

 I also created a CAS card using the sketch, I did use Vintage Vogue so that could count as the mashup!

For this card, I've used SU cardstock Very Vanilla and Island Indigo then stamped up some small Vintage Vogue flowers in Rich Razzleberry, two stamped dark and four stamped off first to give a softer colour.  Add a swirl underneath to make the 'corners' and a few pearls and a beautiful sentiment from a long retired SU Hostess set.

Now it's your turn, I can't wait to see what you all create.  Come on lets go for a record number of entries.....oh hang on that will make it super hard to choose a Rock Star!  Oh never mind, I'll cope, create away my blogging lovlies.

Hello blog friends, it's Friday again and I'm Loving a whole two days stretching ahead of me to play around with paper and ink!  Ok after the house work gets done, and yes after I mow the yard.  But after that, cause I've been good I can shut myself away in the air conditioning and put on the music and craft away till my heart's content.....sigh.

Because it's Friday, you know that means another fabulous challenge at the Friday Mashup.  I am having such a wonderful time on this Design Team, I think we have an amazing selection of talented ladies on our team, we have two guest designers each month AND we have a three way challenge each and every week  What more could a craft addict wish for?

Lisa brings us this weeks challenge, this picture is so cute, you can't help but smile and the quote is a giggle too, I took my grand kids to see Happy Feet 2 and they loved it, I must admit I had a few giggles as well.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

1. Make a project using the "Spotlighting Technique".  
2. Or Make a project featuring "Penguins".  
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project featuring "Penguins using the Spotlighting Technique".

I don't actually own one single penguin stamp!  I searched high and low but to no avail.  So I'm not mashing it up this week again but I promise I'll be mashing next week!


I've gone with the reverse spotlight technique, first time I've used it and I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out.

Mmmmm Chocolate...

The ladies over at Just Add Ink have the most awe inspiring Easter challenge, forget your cute little bunnies and chicks.....bring on your favourite chocolate bar and well of course you just have to eat some of the chocolate while you create.....oh that explains the chocolate coloured smudges!

So here is my chocolate inspiration......apart from Haigs chocolate when I can get my hands on it, this is the next best choice for me.  Dark Chocolate has theraputic health benefits....all the experts say so!

And here is the card I made inspired by the chocolate wrapper colours. I did tone the green down just a little.  This is a case of a case....LOL well I cased this design about 3 years ago and I'm sorry to the original artist, I didn't take down details at the time, I created one in burgundy, caramel and soft green which was just beautiful.  I've used the same design but different colours and stamps this time.

It's a little difficult to see in the picture, but I've used a gold leafing pen to jazz up the flowers a little.

Delight in Life

This week's colour challenge over at Colour Throwdown was one that at first I turned my nose up at.....ewww.  But then I thought ok, the whole point of challenges is to challenge me, in particular take me out of my comfort zone by daring me to use a colour combo that I wouldn't normally use, or find a way to interpret a sketch.  

So going right out of my comfort zone here is my interpretation of this combo using a sketch from 4 Crafty Chicks.

I've used the inlaid embossing technique again and added a bit of rock n roll as well

It's been a creative day

Hello again, well I've really alowed myself the luxury of creating in the past 24 hours. This is another challenge entry. Truly Scrumptious challenges are new to me but I quite liked the sketch featured, here is my interpretation of that along with the colour challenge over at Colour Q this week.

I'm really very happy with how this card came to life, but sadly, it really is time for me to go do some other things :-(

Stamping 411 Challenge

 I have to say I'm really having fun by doing these challenges.  And here is another one from Stamping 411.  Simple sketch that I've played around with just a little.

I've used French Filigree background stamp on 2/3 of the backing card which is mounted on Night of Navy. Marina Mist, Night of Navy and Whisper White are the colours, Silver smooch on the Vintage Vogue flowers which have been stamped with Marina Mist and Night of Navy using the rock n roll technique.  Add a bit of bling and a sentiment then you're done!

More Top Note!

I just love this top note die, here I've cut it out three times then cut each one into varying strips which are then layered on another top note, quite effective I think.  I stamped the leaves flourish from Vintage Vogue by stamping it off first to get a softer image.  The sentiment is from A Beautiful Thing set.

The flower is made using the Scallop Circle punch and scoring each of the scallops across the whole circle, then cut one scallop down to the centre of the circle and accordian fold the scores, three of these glued together then a brad in the centre and you're done!

Vintage Look

I've been experimenting with making a background using versamark and glitter enfused clear embossing powder, I've gone a little overboard as I've covered the flowers with this as well.  Every girl loves Bling!  At least that's my excuse.

I've taken this pic with the light hitting one side to show off shine on the background, although you can't really see the glitter.  I used the rock n roll technique with versamark and Elegant Eggplant the colour of Almost Amethyst deepens with the versamark.  So there you have another creation to inspire you.  Yes I'm using up the purples while I still have them!!!

C.A.S.E.D Top Note card

Hi Again,  I've been busy surfing blogs and found the most beautiful card which I took inspiration from, it's not a complete case but close to it!

If you'd like to see the original it's here  an Inkspirations winner.  Once again I've used a little bit of glossy card which has been coloured with reinkers and rubbing alcohol, I love the marbled look it gives.

Cheers for now.  I have to go back to my craft room...I'll post some pics of that when I get it cleaned up!

Vintage card.

I just love the look of the Vintage Vogue stamps and Very Vintage wheel.

Here are a couple of cards I've made using them.  (above) This one was for my mother for Mothers day, it's a bit hard to tell in the photo but the 4 small flower centres are Crystal Effects with a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds and an Ice Rhinestone brad used for the main flower.  The colours are Rich Razzleberry Whisper White and Mellow Moss.

Below is the Very Vintage wheel and the Cottage Wall designer series paper, I've used a designer brad for the flower centre on this one.
